Robin Terrell, MBA, JD
Robin Terrell, MBA, JD is a catalyst for transformation and engagement in organizations, groups and teams. Her experience inside and outside of companies gives her the knowledge and expertise to complete project based D&I strategies. She works alongside internal teams to help with the design of the strategy and then work to implement with HR and Business partners.
Robin works as the single source provider or in collaboration with internal or external consultants leading ongoing project teams.
Robin’s leadership in the field of Diversity & Inclusion inspired her to co-found the Diversity & Inclusion Roundtable 2.0 with Dr. Maria Hernandez. The Roundtable has created a community of D&I professionals leading initiatives in over 30 top Bay Area companies. The Roundtable has incubated numerous collaborations of ERGs and is a source of dialogue on best practices and future trends. The Roundtable has opened its arms to HR professionals who have been tasked with running D&I initiatives as only part of their jobs. Those with years of experience have mentored those who are just entering the field, elevating the effectiveness of the entire community.
Robin helped build the National Diversity Program for Kaiser Permanente. In that role she participated in the design and development of national programs in the areas of market segmentation, culturally competent care and service, and workforce planning. The diversity strategy for the organization incorporated workforce surveys and responsive training interventions, intranet websites, telecasts, an annual national conference and a series of handbooks on culturally competent care.
Robin has a rich and diverse background in executive management consulting in the healthcare industry, with expertise in strategic planning, market assessment, financial analysis and training design. She has lead project teams that designed innovative approaches to care delivery and developed long-range organizational strategies.
As the principal of her own consulting firm she designed and delivered diversity training for workforce improvement, anti-bias training for lawyers and judges, diversity training for pharmaceutical sales teams, cultural competence training in the clinical setting, and team building in for profit and nonprofit companies.
She has specialized expertise in culturally competent healthcare and has researched and developed curricula covering topics on disparities in healthcare and cultural humility in the delivery of care.
Ms. Terrell’s background includes legal expertise with technology companies at all stages of development, from initial start-ups to early-stage public companies. Her practice included the negotiations of technology transactions and patent agreements, merger and acquisition transactions, private placement equity and debt transactions, strategic alliances, recapitalizations, and other corporate transactions. In addition, she counseled entrepreneurs on the formation of their companies, equity structures, and negotiations with seed and venture capital investors. Her primary focus was on companies in life sciences, clean and renewable energy technologies and social networking internet companies.
